Our History

Firebird Marine was founded in 1986 in Auckland by Alf and Jo Pinker. Originally, we were a boatbuilding business along with being importers of brands such as GLM, Barr, Glenwood and Osco. 39 years later, Firebird Marine is still proudly family owned and operated by Alf and Jo's son David and his wife Nicole. Whilst we no longer build boats, we bring decades of hands-on boating and fishing experience to what we do now. This experience means that our team is knowledgeable about every product and service we offer. 

For decades, we've spent our time exploring New Zealand's coastline with our family in various boats. From the tranquil bays of Northland to the challenging offshore deep sea fishing grounds of the Three Kings, our enjoyment of the sea and passion for boating has been the driving force behind our business.
